Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed a new symptom. My knees shake/tremor coming down the stairs. Going up the stairs has always felt like I am doing squats but coming down has never been an issue until now. I'm concerned about falling down the stairs.

Does anyone else experience this?

Members shared widespread experiences with knee tremors, buckling, and sudden weakness when descending stairs, with many describing the frightening reality of falls and near-falls that have made stair navigation a source of anxiety. Several members offered practical strategies that have helped them feel safer, including always holding onto railings, going down sideways one step at a time, leaning forward for balance, and considering single-level homes to avoid stairs altogether. A recurring theme was the importance of distinguishing fibromyalgia symptoms from other conditions like MS or anxiety, with strong encouragement to discuss new or worsening symptoms with a doctor while continuing to take every precaution to prevent falls.

Stairs scare me to death, I never realized that this was also a potential Fybro symptom. Mine buckle all the time going down stairs.

Not shaking or tremor, but feel they are going to give way. I go down the stairs sideways and one at a time, it really helps me

Yes just recently I was coming down steps in a beach rental home my legs/ knees started shaking really bad. I've never in countered this before. It is a scary feeling. My family was there to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday, I hated the steps. Enjoyed my family time!
