I've been in a "flare" for well over 8 months, I dont seem to be getting better. I've changed the whole way I eat and have a hard time lately keeping positive. The last couple of months have been beyond difficult. I fell like I get worse everyday and the areas that are swollen or red and inflamed the day or week before, still pain me, causing more daily difficulties. Fibro fog seems much worse, sometimes I feel like I'm drugged and can't talk, the words I say come out jumbled. It's near… read more

Members opened up about experiencing prolonged flares that have lasted months or even years, sharing how chronic pain, debilitating fatigue, brain fog, and emotional overwhelm have drastically altered their daily lives and sense of self. Several members described finding strength through faith, spirituality, therapy, and connecting with others who truly understand, while also acknowledging the profound grief of losing loved ones, careers, physical abilities, and independence. A recurring theme was the delicate balance between feeling ready to give up and finding reasons to keep going, whether through children, spiritual beliefs, or the hope that better days might still be ahead.

@A MyFibroTeam Member - so sorry for what you are going through. I turn 60 next month. So hard to believe. Up until 50 I was in great physical shape. i worked out 4 times a week. i was muscled and toned. Then i was hit with breast cancer. 3 years later my mom died with breast cancer. Then along comes fibro. Now i feel like I'm a hundred. My life was on a downward spiral until i found Christ 4 years ago. Thats really the only thing that keeps me from being depressed. I get down and i get frustrated but with Him I still have joy. I just turn to Him when i get overwhelmed and He lifts me up.

I'm also going through the same thing. I've been in a "FLARE?" up for about 3 years. It's horrible. The pain is bad but the chronic fatigue is way worse for me. I'm seeing a Psychiatrist and a therapist. It may not help with the fatigue but it sure helps with my mental health. Good luck. And Gail, I'm so sorry for all the losses and pain you've suffered. God bless you and try to hang in there. I have days when I don't want to live. Not that I would ever do it myself. But I just want to lay down and never get back up. Then my next thought is my 10 year old and how I have to be here and do my best for her.

I understand the feeling. I have been off work for three months now because I was totally burned out from the pain, chronic fatigue and migraine. Stressdoesn't help either. Even being off work I don't get many good days. I have to take a lot of pain medication to control the pain and keep the chronic headache under control so it doesn't turn into a migraine. The only thing that works for me is fiorinal. Probably a factor in being more tired and the brain fog but better than suffering from a migraine or constant flare up. Hoping to have better days ahead.
