I've noticed recently that I seem to be losing quite a bit of hair! Especially when I bath or shower.. I'm not bald or anything! ( Not yet any way ) !!!

Members widely confirmed experiencing significant hair loss alongside fibromyalgia, with many describing handfuls of hair coming out during bathing, brushing, or showering, though most felt fortunate to have started with thick hair. Several members shared that testing revealed vitamin D, iron, or ferritin deficiencies as contributing factors, and found relief through supplements like Spatone iron drinks, biotin, prenatal vitamins, and daily vitamin D, with some also recommending drain screens to prevent clogs. A recurring theme was frustration over brittle hair and hair loss being yet another burden of fibromyalgia, alongside questions about whether malabsorption, stress, medications, or menopause might be playing a role.

I think you've got it spot on there Dharma--because I ended up deficient in several vitamins although I ate a healthy diet and took a multivitamin. My vitamin D defiency made my hair go through a BIG shed until I got that under control (though I have to take it daily) Most people in the Northern Hemisphere are d deficient anyhow but somehow malabsorption tends to go with fibro (another part that they're only now starting to look into)

Yes and it was a lot every time I showered! Mine is due to very low iron/ferritin levels. Regular iron pills hurt my stomach so I've been taking a powder pre-natal and after 2 months of use, I already have less hair loss.

More likely a secondary thing, like from stress, or malabsorption etc.. maybe boost you vitamin intake, fish oil, a natural shampoo etc.

Thanks for all your replies. In the bath & shower & brushing, I lose a lot of hair. I am vit D deficient for which I'm on vit D once a day. Plus the Sertraline for my anxiety and depression. Other pain meds that my Doc's have tried me on have had adverse side affects so I'm not taking any pain relief meds!! I've just started taking a multi vitamin but I think I will try an iron vit on its own.
@A MyFibroTeam Member I hate it too 😭 especially on days like today, the pain has been excruciating & I'm exhausted!
I've written some stuff down (have to do multiple memory lists & still forget what I'm doing... even mid doing something sometimes!!!!) πŸ˜‚
