Members connected over the frustrating and emotionally difficult experience of hair loss with fibromyalgia, with many describing handfuls of hair falling out daily and visible thinning especially around the hairline and scalp. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped, including switching from tight ponytails or buns to headbands or bobby pins to reduce tension on hair, getting thyroid levels checked since thyroid conditions commonly cause hair loss, and exploring whether medications like Lyrica or hormonal changes during menopause might be contributing factors. A recurring theme was the relief of knowing they were not alone in this struggle, with members offering mutual support and encouragement to keep trying solutions and advocating with their doctors.

That can be related to the medications you might be taking. My beautician told me that detail.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Hair loss is very common w/ thyroid conditions. Also, wearing a ponytail will increase your hair loss b/c it puts tension on your hair. I've been trying to switch to headbands or using bobby pins and I'm losing much less hair now.

Yes. I had hair loss and thinning. The hair loss has slowed and I've been told it will regroup. In the meantime I wear a variety of beautiful head bands. Not sure I can blame the hair loss on lupus or fibro. Gentle hugs. Let me know if you want the name of the headbands.
