Members overwhelmingly confirmed that jaw and facial pain is a common fibromyalgia symptom, identifying it as TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder), with many describing how it affects their entire jaw, teeth, and even makes dental visits excruciating. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them manage the pain, including avoiding hard-to-chew foods like gum and steak, using lidocaine cream or voltaren for topical relief, working on trigger points through massage or osteopathy, and asking dentists for jaw supports during procedures. A recurring theme was the frustration of dealing with yet another painful manifestation of fibromyalgia, balanced by the community's willingness to share detailed information and offer solidarity through gentle hugs and mutual support.

Yes it's TMJ and part of fibro. Boo!!!
What I have changed about my life to stop the jaw pain is to pick and choose what I eat. Gum, out. Steak, out. Anything that is hard to chew or causes me to chew a lot, out.
It made a huge difference. Because your jaw is a joint, when it gets aggravated it can start a flare.
When I figured that out my flares due to TMJ stopped. I swear it's never ending extermination with fibro.

Jaxs u may be clenching and grinding your teeth at night making your TMJ worse. There is a question here about it u may find useful. 8 also grind and took so much enamel off my teeth, and on top of all the medication I take my teeth are collapsing

Yes the old TMJ. It's more painful trying to keep my mouth open at the dentist's than any root canal or procedure they could do. I always ask for those cork things to keep my mouth open without me mechanically having to do it..I still have to support my jaw at times when the ache gets too severe
