Three Year Flare Up?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I meant to ask before I went on vacation, but when I went to the pain clinic and explained how I'll I have been, the doctor said I have been having a flare. That means since April 2014, she thinks I've been having a flare. Has anyone else been told this? It's like she brushed off the worsening of my symptoms as if I will recover. If it's a flare, I'll get better attitude.

Plus I have CFS/ME, so suffer from PEM and she told me to walk briskly every day! Really???!!!

I am so sorry you have to feel this way but I too have been having really bad flares going on 2 months it's gotten to the point that I sometimes cannot get out of bed my Dr also told me to go to the gym and exercise and for me it's like walking barefooted on glass since I also suffer from cfs and fm sometimes my pain meds work but when it hits me hard they do not work as well. I am starting to feel so helpless due to gaining 10lbs in 2 weeks but sometimes my knees give out on me to the point where I have fallen..... Hope you get well soon wishing you pain free days and sending gentle hugs

Hi, yeah that makes sense to me. I feel like it's been seven years, with brief peaks of OK days
And OK days meaning feeling like I was run over by only 50 Mack trucks vs the normal over a 150 Mack trucks. I'm convinced that there are severity levels to Fibromyalgia.
Brisk walk my bum, it's difficult to stand in one place. Have you tried yoga? First find what works for you, then do what you can. For me, a little yoga and I'm talking breathing yoga that will help strengthen your core. Or if you can have them set up aqua therapy for you, the water help's with all movement.
Water therapy can help , but it's difficult to tell for everyone. It's not a cure, and it needs to be for longer than insurance will pay for. We have a chronic condition, long term care is needed. Many therapist treat fibromyalgia like a sports injury and that is wrong. Our body wasn't damaged due to the incorrect fall, it is here for other reasons we have not figured out, as with a sports injury and our bodies will not just heal back in a four week session. Keep strong, together we can make a difference.

It has taken me time but I wasn't walking at all. Then to the stop sign up the street. Now I'm walking 4 times that distance one way with 10 lb ankle weights.
LIke has already been suggested start with what you 'can' do. I've lost 22 lbs so far in just a couple of months.
Hope you have a fantastic time !!!
I've never been to the northern midwest but I'm told it is cold this time of year. :-)

And yes I've had a 'flare' for a really long time too.
I used to take my pain med only once a day but now that I take it morning and night I don't dread going to sleep because I woke in such agony and I sleep better.

Then I have been in a flare for 30 years😋 Walking briskly is not something you start off doing, good Lord. Start with what you are comfortable with & increase accordingly♥️

My fibro flares are daily but with different things flaring up. Doctors do push everything over to fibro I find but you have to push them to think outside of fibro. I have recently gone to the doctor and explained concerns with different things that he started to put under fibro. NOT, I told him I wanted blood work to see if I was low on anything, especially magnesium, so he's sending me for blood work but other times he gives me stupid suggestions like exercise. I have migraines 24/7, I get hot my heat feels like it's going to explode, put I have severely bad knees and my feet hurt like hell when I'm on them too much so how am I suppose to exercise. I do what I can with the info I get, from all of you and my own research and what I know I can do. My advice to you is maybe slow down and see if that helps at all, take time for yourself and maybe look into getting a new doctor. Gentle hugs
