Has anyone else had problems with skyrocketing blood pressure? I have had high BP for decades, but it has always been well-controlled with medication. Over the past few years it has been creeping higher (I blamed it on the exhaustion and stress of caring for - and then losing - my amazing mom) I was finally diagnosed in December with fibro, after about a year and a half of testing for everything else under the sun. Anyway, as of the last couple of months, my BP is out of control. I am working… read more

get off Mobic - I did and two days later I was back to normal. Doctor asked did I have headache - or chest pain - it will effect your health - you don't need more episodes or crisis. I am wary of pain killers - got to monitor how little you can get by with because drugs have their side-effects. Valerium and Chamomile are natural and help me relax and do not make the system more acidic. Fruits and veggies and white meats rather than red meat and flour products - staying alkaline is important. That's my best bet - a lot we have to work out for ourselves. Doctors treat symptoms and do not cue - we have to be masters over our own body and give it health and well being by what we feed ourselves. Too much reliance on drugs is not good......doctors only train in drugs not natural medicine. Good health to you....Love Kerrie
I reacted to pain med called Mobic which sent my blood pressure sky high - dangerous
So, as it turns out, I actually stopped one medication that I wasn't supposed to stop. I added it back on Saturday when my pressure was so high that I called my doc's on-call partner. I was dreading it, thinking that he was going to make me go to the ER, but thank goodness he asked me to add the medication back in and call back if things didn't get better by morning. I really thought I was going to have a heart attack (or was having one). I took an Ativan to eliminate some anxiety, and made it through. So far it is going down slllooowwwllllyyyy this week, still higher than it has been in years. Thanks for all of the advice and hugs to everyone for reaching out. xo
Now that you mention Mobic-I take that & have experienced higher blood pressure at random checks. Sometimes my heart will beat fast while resting too. All of these drugs we take...I keep wondering if we will all suffer consequences someday. May help us now, but on 20 yrs. of meds to control pain can't be good on my body.
Went to my PCP yesterday. She took me off NSAID, replaced one of my blood pressure meds, and increased another. I go back in 3 weeks. Next step is a diuretic if swelling in feet and legs doesn't go down.
