Members shared encouraging stories about lowering their blood pressure naturally, with weight loss and regular exercise emerging as the most commonly cited strategies that helped bring numbers down without medication. Several members pointed out overlooked factors that can elevate blood pressure, including chronic pain (which doctors sometimes use as a diagnostic clue), long-term use of NSAIDs like ibuprofen or naproxen, and high salt or caffeine intake. A recurring theme was that while lifestyle changes like low-carb or low-salt diets and losing weight slowly can make a meaningful difference, many members acknowledged that some people may still need medication and that progress often requires patience and persistence.

Mine has always been low, it's been higher than normal for about 6 months; but Dr says it's due to being in pain!!

Are you regularly taking naproxen/ibeuprofen? Elevated blood pressure and increased risk of cardiac events are one of the (very often overlooked by doctor's) side effects of long term use of NSAIDs.

When I was on 10+ meds a day - for RA, depression, insomnia, etc - my blood pressure was regularly in the range of 200/150. Seriously high. Now it's usually about 110/70. But, mine case was one of total misdiagnosis, so stopping all the meds I didn't need made mine better.

That said, exercise is really one of the best things to lower your blood pressure. I know how incredibly hard that can be, though.

I have to take prescription medicine and watch what I eat. Trying exercise too. At this point, I don't think I can go without meds, but I was on 4 meds for it last year, so I've improved. You way want to try a low carb, low salt diet.
