I am dealing with chronic migraines to the point that I am missing work regularly. I am on the verge on filing for disability. I hate to give in, but I can't push anymore! The migraines are affecting my work. Some days it's just too hard to get out of bed, and when I do make it to work, my head still hurts that I can't concentrate. I'm exhausted on a regular basis. What's a girl to do!?

Members shared deep empathy around chronic migraines and fibromyalgia forcing difficult decisions about work and disability, with many describing their own struggles with debilitating pain, exhaustion, missed workdays, and the heartbreak of having to leave jobs they loved. Several members discussed medications and treatments they've tried, including triptans like Imitrex and Maxalt, Topamax, Lyrica, morphine patches, Botox injections, magnesive supplements, chiropractors, massage therapy, acupuncture, and daith ear piercings, with most emphasizing that relief is highly individual and often temporary. A recurring theme was the importance of identifying triggers like MSG, aspartame, fragrances, and certain foods, advocating fiercely for oneself with medical teams, and recognizing when it's time to prioritize health over pushing through, with encouragement to apply for disability without guilt or shame.

@CherylAnnBartnettKirkland, I hear ya! My Chiro very quickly learned that he couldn't do adjustments on me like his other patients, he started working through some form of very gentle/subtle treatments for subluxations. Does that ring a bell with you? Sometimes I felt like he hadn't done anything at all but yet somehow it was working. Gradually my tension lessened and the headaches and other pains got better. That's not to say I'm 100% fixed, but I am far better than I was.
Your neuro guy will have thought of everything I can think of I'm sure, but do you have any good sensitivities? Or maybe something environmental like a tree outside your house or some sort of spray? Or even a smell inside your house, or something in your soap? Multiple Chemical Sensitivity is a big one for many Fibro sufferers.
I'm grabbing at straws really, but I just feel like if I were you I would be tearing my hair out trying to find the cause!

I've suffered with migraines since 2008. In 2011 they became more frequent and longer lasting so I was off work once every 3 - 4 weeks. As I worked in a school I never got to complete a full term for the following year and a half.. I then got stuck with sleep apnea and was offered redundancy as the occupational therapist said I might not ever be ready to go back to work. I'm now officially unable to work following my assessment.. I take sumatriptan for the migraines, 37.5mcgms of morphine via a patch, anti emetic, Paracetamol and citalopram.. Hope this helps and that you find some relief from your pain x
