Members shared mixed experiences with Gabapentin for fibromyalgia and chronic pain, with many finding significant relief from pain and improved sleep, though most reported side effects like dry mouth, drowsiness, and weight gain (with one member gaining 60 pounds). Several members described practical strategies, including taking it primarily at night to manage drowsiness, adjusting dosages up or down during flares, switching to Horizant (an extended-release version) to reduce daytime fatigue, and working closely with doctors to find the right balance between pain control and side effects. A recurring theme was that while Gabapentin was highly effective for some, others experienced serious reactions like severe wobbliness, vision problems, mood changes, and in one rare case hearing loss, highlighting the importance of monitoring symptoms closely and advocating for adjustments when needed.

I've been on Gabapentin several years. Once the dosage was right, I'm able to sleep without the constant tossing and turning due to pain. I still have daily pain but certain symptoms are kept away unless I'm very stressed.

I have been on it for about 7 years with absolutely no side effects and keeps me pretty controlled. When I flare I increase from twice daily to three times a day for a day or two then go back down. I hated the lyrica

I am on it initially at a really high dose. I gained a lot of weight and my mood really dipped low and my vision has deteriorated. I have begun reducing it down but the pain is again becoming intolerable so moving up and down with my dosage. It is effective with helping reducing my pain restless legs etc x
