Members strongly related to the experience of bedtime pain intensifying, describing how lying down makes them hyper-aware of every pressure point, with many comparing themselves to The Princess and the Pea and explaining that the lack of daytime distractions allows pain to feel more pronounced. Several members shared solutions that have helped, including memory foam toppers, egg crate layers, adjustable beds for better positioning, soft warm lighting to ease nighttime anxiety, and strategic medication routines, though many acknowledged that even with these tools, sleep remains elusive. A recurring theme was the frustration of tossing and turning through the night, the search for a bed soft enough to provide relief, and the emotional toll of dreading something as basic as lying down to rest.

Yes, like just the wait of your body touching the bed is painful. My husband used to laugh at me, when I'd say things like this. I've had fibro for over 20 years and he has just learned to accept all the weird aches and pains. We've recently bought an adjustable bed and it has been wonderful for my chest pains. blessings and gentle hugs

I look at it this way, pretend your pain is a radio switch on, you can go about things during the day and it not really bother you, but when everything is quite and still, boy can you here it . The pain is bad during the day but when you try to rest it becomes unbearable. That's when i need extra help i have lots of meds at night to help me sleep but i wake up offten in the night so am grumpy when i wake.

Often the less distractions we have, the more pain we are aware of.

Makes sense for a few reasons.. it's the end of the day and you are more tired and worn out. Also in bed we are generally less distracted... so the awareness of the pain increases. Also we are not moving around so it 'sets in'.
