For shin pain I:

Massage with lidocaine cream or other cream or oil.

Use a massage roller on my buttocks. It helps! (Something to do with fascia and piriformis (sp?) muscles loosening, eases the tension down the leg I guess.)

Stretch calves on a step: Both feet on same step. One foot has the ball on the back of the step and you drop your heel to feel the stretch in the back of your calf. Hold 30 seconds and release and do three times. Both legs.

Stand with more bended knees.

Best wishes!

P.S. I also have orthotics for my shoes.

Hello.
I too have a lot of pain with my feet ankles, calves and shins. Feels at times like both my legs are broken. Hurt so bad to walk. Stretching by pulling my toes toward my knees and then pushing my toes as far as I can the other direction usually helps a bit before putting my feet on the ground anytime I've rested or slept. Hope this helps. Hugs and God bless

Here are some gentle easy things to try...

1) Try freezing water in a Dixie cup then roll the round ice cube up and down your legs.
2) sit on the floor, have a friend push on your feet, while you try to pull them, then switch. You try to push your feet out, while they resist. Hold each one for a few seconds and repeat about 3 times to start.
3) stand flat on the floor, while holding on to a chair, go up on your toes, then back down and go up on your heel, by lifting up your toes. Repeat this 10 times.
4) while holding onto a chair or the wall, stretch one calf at a time, by giving the back of your calf a good stretch. Then while in the same position, bend your knee and if you are doing it right, you should feel it stretch the front of your calf.
5) sit on a chair, use a closed can of some type, roll it back and forth under one foot, out as far as you can reach, then back again. Repeat with other foot.

Gentle hugs dear & best wishes

I hate to say I don't have pain somewhere because I feel like I'll cause it to happen lol anyway, I do have pain in my ankles and feet and it isn't plantar fasciitis. That seems like the only thing the doctors know of that affects the feet but my pain isn't on the bottom or back of the heel. It is on the tops and sides of my feet. I'm wondering it it is a similar thing. It is a really sharp pain and some days I can't stand to put weight on my feet. Sometimes I wake up feeling fine (not such bad pain) and get out of bed and fall to the floor because of the pain. I have a really high pain tolerance too but it is always such a shock when it happens. It is similar to the pain I sometimes have in my hips, mostly my right hip, when I stand up after being seating for long time. One doctor told me that was probably caused by having a really big baby naturally. I guess my hip (at least one but can't remember really) became dislocated during that birth. So maybe that is the reason or it could be RA. They really aren't sure but they are treating me with methotrexate for RA and it started working but that med is used to treat a lot of things. I personally feel like I can feel all of the connective tissues around the bones hurting. In my feet there is a lot of connective tissues and I really feel like I can feel every bone but that the painful areas are all in between and around the bones. I know it is not the same but maybe it is and just a different area. I have never had shin splint pain so I don't know about that. I really hope you find something that helps you because it really sucks when they just look at you like you're crazy.
