I'm moving in a week those of you who have done so. How did you handle the move? What helped you through? How did you handle finding new doctors?

Members offered practical advice for moving with rheumatoid arthritis, with many emphasizing the importance of hiring professional movers when possible, packing gradually to allow for frequent breaks, and enlisting help from friends or family to avoid overexertion. Several members shared their own challenging moving experiences, describing exhaustion, soreness, and the need to pace themselves while relocating across states or even within the same town. A recurring theme was finding new doctors through word of mouth, asking current doctors for referrals, connecting with local community members, and checking online reviews to find board-certified, fellowship-trained specialists who are a good fit.

My dad is going to help and I don't have to move furniture so that's a plus just going to be a long day I'm going to be driving up to Boston

Since my diagnosis in 1996 We have moved twice. In 2002 we decided to move from Michigan back to Oklahoma. At the time it was me, my husband, 2 teenagers and our Boxer. We packed up our whole house brought my Blazer and a UHaul truck so I had to drive my truck the whole way down. It was very stressful and I was sore for a few days. Then we lived in a rent house for a year and moved from one part of town to another and of course that wasn't too bad, but still wore me out because I was working full time. Just take it one step at a time. (((gentle hugs)))

I just moved in October. I was diagnosed in late September. As far as the physical piece, we hired movers. My husband was about to have neck surgery so we were both in bad shape. We had them do everything. We packed almost everything but had them finish. We stayed in the same town so didn't need to switch doctors. I do google all doctors first. You can check reviews on them. Once we were moved in, we just did what we could and prioritized. Our office is still filled with boxes and the guest room isn't finished but that's ok. I wish you the best of luck. Just make sure you have all important paperwork and clothes. Remind yourself nothing is life threatening. Ask for lots of help if possible. Good luck!!

My doctor is the largest part of the problem. He laughs violently at the word naturopath even though it was a naturopath who helped me by finding out my reactions to sunflower oil and legumes. On top of that, he refuses to do some of the testing I ask for AND he wouldn't do a couple of the referrals I asked for either. I'm still searching.
