So sorry, I feel your pain b/c it is the same as mine. We must make an effort to cut down on these events, but now I am almost 75 and everyone knows that I can't take too many people for too long. I will "shush" them because they are family and they do understand. My youngest grand is 20 now but there is always something going on somewhere. I use ice a lot for the pain plus heat and Theragesic. But mostly, lying down will help the most and being STILL. We are all suffering and must find help by talking to each other. Thank all of you for your input.
I truly thought I was all alone in this. I am a momma of 5 and a mimi of 4. I have always wanted my children to know how very much they are loved and that their momma is always here for them. It has been so important to me because I grew up with the complete opposite. I just want them to all be healthy & happy. However, with 5 children & 4 grandbabies that is very unrealistic and at least 1 seems to be going through a crisis every other day. I too experience really bad flare ups from stress or stressful situations to the point that sometimes I feel like I'm in a non ending flare up. The pain and lack of sleep yet always feeling exhausted during the day cause me so much anxiety and depression. I also have ocd very bad. The kind where my home has to be unrealistically spotless. The more stressed I am the more the ocd kicks in and i find myself cleaning like a crazy person while crying my eyes out because i hurt so bad but i just cant seem to stop myself which causes me extreme pain & lots of other issues which increases my anxiety and depression. It is a never ending cycle. I've tried explaining it to my children but I'm really not good at setting boundaries and they are so used to momma always being there for them to vent to & get advice from. I know I need to get back into therapy for the depression which all of my health issues have definitely made much worse. I really wish others understood just how much chronic pain & all the other issues that come along with fibro can take their toll on a person. I truly hope you find some relief. I have found taking even a short walk outdoors in nature depending on the weather can help a lot with the depression & a lil bit of the pain. The fresh air is nice & things you notice along the way seem to help with at least a lil distraction from the pain. On warm sunny days even just sitting in the sun for a lil seems to help with the stiffness, mobility, and my overall frame of mind. (((Hugs)))
I figured I couldn't be the only one who goes thru this. I have discussed this with my adult kids, so they know that Mom's illness can be exacerbated by stress. They have gotten better about involving me in there 'stuff''. But, they also know that they can vent without any expectations of solutions, just to get things off their chests. And, it is reciprocal. However, as a mom, I want nothing but peace, tranquility, smooth-sailing for my kids--unrealistic? YES! Unfortunately, fibro doesn't know the difference between a real emergency and life's ups and downs. I have a 'pill' to help me with this, but I HATE taking drugs, so I retreat into my world of depression (for which I am getting prof help) and solitude. AND PRAYER!!
Yep, I am battling all sorts of health problems at the moment in response to my daughter's marriage breakup. I can guarantee that every time my daughter vents I will be in bed next day with a flare, hardly able to move. My husband and I are so worried about our grandchildren 8 and 4, who have taken to living in two homes (Mum's and Dad's) with some difficulty. Our physical bodies so reflect our emotions. @A MyFibroTeam Member I am really annoyed that my house is not clean; the added stress of laying on the sofa in pain while observing the mess around me is awful. Still, I just can't keep it up and I feel very successful if/when I manage the smallest of tasks. I thank God for my husband's help when I ask for it. He's so busy running the biz that I hate to put more on him, but he does it graciously and is willing and happy to help. As far as the depression goes, I just want to tell you I am back in therapy with a diagnosis of severe depression or something like that, can't remember the 'technical' term. No shortcuts or magic pill for this. But I feel optimistic about the two team therapists I'm working with and the plan they have set up. If I had to choose between the fibro pain and the depression, I'd opt for the fibro pain. Depression is a scary place to be!!! All the best with your goals. You've got my total support along with that of several hundred or thousand others in this community!! Sincere and gentle hugs!--Jude
