Members rallied around someone seeking advice on writing a grant to start a fibromyalgia awareness nonprofit, offering both encouragement and concrete guidance on how to move forward. Several members shared practical strategies, including connecting with the national fibromyalgia organization for volunteer and event support, targeting pharmaceutical companies for research funding, focusing grant proposals on gaps in services or central nervous system dysregulation, and ensuring meticulous attention to detail with strong letters of support from community partners. A recurring theme was the community's shared hope for greater public awareness and better treatment options, with members expressing interest in education-focused initiatives, fundraising walks, and even pitching TV shows to shine a light on the daily realities of living with fibromyalgia.

Cool, that would be really neat! I have been thinking of writing to one of the TV shows I watch, asking them to do a show on us!!!!

The national org. Is very active. For a disease that is not to be common, the Nat. Org has a lot of volunteers and many sponsored events. They could certainly help you.

Trying to get the government to sponsor a grant for further research into fibro would be awesome. I don't think there is enough research or enough doctors that understand this disease and how it impacts families and ultimately financial stresses on the individual. I'm sure many of us don't have medical coverage for the various doctors and therapists that would make our lives better. I will try to research what avenues are available.

I personally don't have any experience, however I have a friend who has her own company & writing grants is one of her specialties.
