Members shared mixed experiences with the Butrans patch for pain management, with some finding relief without the side effects of oral medications, while others reported skin reactions including severe itching, redness, and blistering that forced them to switch to alternatives like Zapain or Zomorph. Several members offered practical strategies for managing skin irritation, such as rotating patch placement on the body and using Flonase spray on the area an hour before application. A recurring theme was the importance of weighing relief against side effects, with one member sharing a harrowing story about being switched to a stronger alternative that led to hospitalization, underscoring the value of careful medication management and self-advocacy.

I tried Butrans about 8 weeks ago. Only for one week trial and it worked miracles! I had little pain and more energy to do things I normally couldn't before when I was on fentanyl. That stuff is 10x as potent as morphine. Had a hell of a time getting off it. I'm now waiting for the prior authorization to go through so I can take it again. Doc says it's not as dangerous as other opioids. As for the itch, doc recommended I spray Flonase on the area where I will put the patch for about an hour before. That should stop the itching. Hope this helps

I started it 3 weeks ago and it's working perfectly. I'm on the lowest dose but it's helping my severe pain and ive tried many othrr meds. This patch has no side effects, it doesn't leave you feeling high like oxycodone and other narcotics. I highly recommend it
