So I think maybe my fibro gets worse just before my period. Has anyone else noticed that or is it in my head?

Members overwhelmingly confirmed that fibromyalgia symptoms worsen significantly around menstruation, with pain, fatigue, bloating, and other symptoms intensifying before, during, and sometimes after periods. Several members shared that hormonal birth control options like Depo-Provera shots, the NuvaRing, Norethisterone, and contraceptive coils have helped reduce or eliminate periods and provide relief from the amplified fibro symptoms. A recurring theme was the debilitating nature of combining fibro with menstrual cycles, with some members finding that hysterectomies or hormone replacement therapy brought much-needed stability after years of suffering.

Yes, it does. I guess it is the hormone fluctuations. I have increased back pain. A doctor, years ago, told me it was the bloating that presses on the nerves. My anxiety gets worse as well and I need to increase my lorezepam from .05 to 1 mg

I had to go on Depo because they were lasting about 6 days but so heavy that I would have to change night time pads every hour and vomitted like crazy. Depo has stopped my periods have not had one in almost 6 years

Oh God Yess! It's debilitating! I've been on birth control to stop my periods but I'm still having them as of late. It takes a while for it to work. But its not JUST the pain, it's the fatigue too. I'm usually out of commission totally. And it's a little the week before, worst the week of and sticks around even the next week. That like the whole month! Arrrrgghh!
