I think my case must have been unusual. I got the application, I answered every question in nauseating detail, attached additional pages of paper, told them that it took me 3 hours to do a sink of dishes, how I could only stand 15 minutes because of the hip and leg pain, how my right are and hand go numb and the horrible neck pain and how if I didn't stop and rest I would get a migraine with vomiting and light and sound sensitivity, etc., etc. I listed every surgery and medical condition, 36 medications, when I took them, for what, how ordered it, the specialist, every hospitalization, accident, every medication allergy and what happens, by the way, I give these lists to every doctor, hospital, etc; I got a call in 18 days after I sent the application in for an interview with the person at Social Security and at the end of the call, she told me I would be receiving a letter informing me that I had been approved, etc.

But, they gave me the wrong amount of money. When I went in because I was loosing my SSI because I turned 62, I found out I had been shorted over $10,000 over the 22 months I had been receiving SSI.

I had an attorney who only sent in the initial information, telling me they would do everything, and that was all they did. At least they only got $24 for their efforts.

If you have a lawyer it will go a lot faster. Usually it takes about 3x of rejection then lawyer keeps up in contacting you for more new information. I received my disability in 3 months. I was told that Washington was so over loaded that my case and others were sent to Texas for the evaluation and answer my case. It took in all around 3years from start to finish, you don't pay your lawyer for disability the state does and there is a cap of 5,000.00 only that the lawyer can receives from the state and cannot charge you more. I wish you would have posted when the hearing is so that I know you will get this in time. I would write everything down that you want to get across to them. Such as, what have you been doing to adjust to the issues presented by fibro. Also list all your various pains that you can't get under control. List the meds you are currently on and how long you have been on them and what type of help they offer (the meds). I listed everything I had changed in order to cope, such as buying groceries every other day just because I couldn't be on my feet that long and couldn't carry that much into the house in one shopping spree. In other words I guess I am saying tell them what you can no long do because of fibro.

Well sadly...that was not the hearing I thought it was when I spoke to a gentleman at the advocators group. The call I got today which I thought was the appeal hearing was simply the advocators group calling for more information about my health and how it has limited me. Then a list of all my medications. I told the lady that I thought they had all this information already and she said no. Then once we finished going over everything she said that they will send in the request for hearing in front of one if the SS judges and that right now with all the people applying yoo and requesting for hearing, it usually takes up to 12-18 months to be seen by the judge. Texas is really good at seeing people quickly so I might be looking at 12 months. 😐🔫
I was not expecting this today.

I gave up. I am 64 and went on SS. But I encourage you to continue the fight.
