The dentist has always caused me some anxiety, but it has been getting worse and worse. I shake really bad, my heart palpitatstes. And even if they calm me enough to start I hurt with cleanings l, even after novocaine. I don't know what to do.

Dental phobia is very common. It took me 20 yrs to scare my husband enough to get him to see a dentist. If your dentist is aware you can be premedicated with a light sedative some patients actually require IV sedation just for cleaning. There is no reason for you to suffer when its auite a simple fix. Good luck.

Not to mention if youve changed dentist recently, some dentist have epinephrine mixed in the lidocaine. This also can cause anxiety & palpitations. If your current dentist isnt sensitive to your needs, find another & be sure he will treat dental anxiety before you even make an appt. The dentist here advertise they will take care of and treat your anxiety. No need to suffer more.

Yes get some sedation. I got some in pill form and got it through my regular doctor. Then it doesn't cost what the dentist would charge you. Some denists charge two hundred dollars or more for the same thing you could get from a doctor. When I got all my teeth pulled in the same day I took two zanx before hand. I would take right
before you go to the dentist and you need to have someone take you and bring you home, also being responsible for seeing you get home and functioning well before they leave you on your own. Jan
