I am flying alone for the first time since Being sick. I've traveled by air twice since my diagnosis and both times have resulted in 3-4 day migraines and hideous pain. I'm only going to Ohio, about a 2 hour flight, but I have 2 hours in the car and all the sensory from the airport. Any tips that have helped you when you've traveled? Trying to only take my micro suitcase so there isn't much room for my normal comforts.

Members rallied around someone traveling alone for the first time since their diagnosis, concerned about avoiding the severe migraines and pain they'd experienced on previous flights. Several members shared practical strategies, including requesting wheelchair assistance to reduce stress and physical strain, wearing dark sunglasses and noise-blocking headphones for sensory overload, bringing inflatable neck pillows, asking doctors about preventive migraine medications or anti-anxiety options like Vistaril or muscle relaxers, and trying natural remedies like ginger ale or feverfew tea. The member later reported back with gratitude, sharing that while pain levels were high on travel days, they successfully avoided a migraine and enjoyed their friend's wedding.

For sensory overload i have invested in super dark sunglasses and quick on, quick off ear protection....looks like wearing headphones...or u could do an ipod with relaxing music. Wear your most comfy clothes n shoes. They make a blow-up neck pillow thats easy to carry. Ask your doc about a med to prevent migrane, nausea or any other symptoms. I also resorted to muscle relaxer to deal with the anxiety the first time i flew.
