Is there a connection between fibromyalgia and arthritis
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in April 2016, many of my joints click and creak as if they are rubbing together. I have a swelling/lump in the back of my right hand, it's been scan and shown nothing. I get numbness in both my hands often and because of the pain from the swelling wear a wrist support during the day and have noticed some morning it's very tight to get on. I have an appointment at the doctors tomorrow but wonder if they… read more

I think so it is among other things called soft tissue arthritis by some people but , I have the same issues and they change the longer you have it maybe better in some places maybe worse . This is an ever-changing disease even tho the doctors don't admit that it is sometimes , I guess they don't have it and we have to be the experts :)

first of all please do not go into the DR"S with along list of problems ! please please don't ! they will thank you are crazy ! and there is a test to see if it is arthritis ! but no test to see if it is fibro! as a nurse i have worked with a lot of DR"S and when people come in with this and that wrong with them ,you should hear what the DR says about them when they leave ! just go in with a few questions at a time ! let the DR get to know you first . that way he knows you and your body ! love , peace and pain free days your sister in pain and in Christ love Michele !

There's not a connection Fibromyalgia = fibro (tissue) my (muscle) algia (pain). Arthritis (bones, joints). You've got a double whammy. When your nerves/muscles act up your bones/joints may not, but they both can act up at the same time. When my shoulder was injured, the nerves from my chest to shoulder was ripped, those nerves would rub on the bone like friction. I would get a lump from it but there was nothing in the lump. When I applied heat it would relax the lump and go down like untying a knot. It'd not normal to have lumps even on the hand. I hope your doctor gets to the bottom of your lumps and your joints. There's a lot of medical advances compared when my grandma had arthritis. Sending hugs.
