It's been 13 years to the day today that I lost my best friend, uncle and god father all in one person to MS... I watched him deteriorating from a strong man who would throw me around and call me his Blue eiyed princess to a man laying in a bed in a care home with no control from the mouth down voice box gone
I was devastated on our last visit I just had a feeling it was our last and I didn't want to go, I held him so tight for as long as I could and he struggled to tell me he loved me πŸ’”

Members rallied around someone grieving the anniversary of losing their beloved uncle to MS, offering both emotional validation and practical guidance for processing profound loss. Several members shared personal experiences with similar grief, emphasizing that time doesn't necessarily heal but rather teaches us to carry the pain differently, with suggestions including grief counseling, hospice bereavement groups, journaling, writing letters to the deceased, and allowing space for both sadness and continued living. A recurring theme was honoring loved ones by living fully in their memory, recognizing their presence as guardians or spirits, and understanding that grief has no timeline or correct way to unfold.

Thank you so much for all of your kind words, I totally believe in spirits and guides etc I know that my uncle is my guardian angel so I will never actually see him :( but on the day he was with my very close spiritual friend Sarah and she was able to let me know that he was ok, and at peace ... It was so upsetting knowing I will never see him as he protects me but it's some peace to know my close friend had the pleasure of his company for that day only x

I lost my best friend too,The anniversary was last month ,it's been seven years since she died .She was only 29years old. Then in January this year we lost my cousin he was 46years old.I really feel for you it is such a hard thing to go through,i don't think you ever get over it ,you just come to terms with it and learn to live with it.I have to say with my cousin being so recent it hasn't really sunk in ,but with my best friend I have to carry on because it's what she would have wanted and I can't allow my family to go through what hers have with loosing her.I think about her every day ,and I feel like she is somehow with me.Any big decisions I need to make I visit her grave .I talk about her a lot and anyone who is new in my life gets to know about her too.I know that life is precious and short so we do need to live it and appreciate it .Maybe they can experience the things they never got to do through us and maybe at the end of my life I will be reunited with them. Our friends and relatives still living need to be of equal importance to us as those that have died ,we have to remind ourselves not to neglect them .I have a close friend who is living and it's been hard for me to call her my best friend as I feel disloyal and guilty to my best friend who died. But I also feel its unfair to my close living friend too.I went to the grave and I think my best friend would understand and know that she will always be my best friend too.i don't think there's an amount of years that you come to terms with loosing someone ,but there is a process you need to go through like shock, anger, guilt and all the other things x

Hello There, sorry for your loss, I know it is hard. Years ago I worked for Hospice, they have a Breavement
Group that would be good for you to join. There are many people going through the same thing, it is comforting to talk to some one else that is going through the same thing. Good luck to you. M

I can feel your pain in your words. I lost my sweetie from cancer three years ago after a 5 year battle and although everyone says time heals, I don't feel time heals. What time does is up to you. You will always be a different person from before the death to now after the death. Keep his memories, his love for you with you always. Remember, he is with you now, walking beside you, watching you, smiling with you. I know, as your reading this your probably saying, you want him here.. but we both know that isn't possible and I want to stamp my feet and demand that my loved one will walk back in the door. We have to know that we are still here to do something, to finish something. We all are on our own journey and we must experience different things in life and with a lot of thought try to find the meaning. Find a support group that may help you through your rough times, as the above post states, think of him free of pain and suffering. There will be triggers that come out of the blue that will make you crash but don't beat yourself up as it is a time of closeness with your loved one. I realize those times when the emotions just come over you and take you to the depth of pain can be scary and take your emotions to the pit of darkness but at that time ask yourself .. what would he want you to do. Take care of yourself, hug yourself and visualize it is him giving you a hug and continue to be his princess.
