Members overwhelmingly described their fibromyalgia symptoms starting gradually rather than all at once, with many initially dismissing the pain, fatigue, and brain fog as stress, overwork, lack of sleep, or even imagining things until symptoms became too severe to ignore. Several members shared that physical trauma like back injuries, surgeries, or high-stress jobs (especially nursing) seemed to trigger or worsen their condition, and that symptoms often spread from one area to multiple parts of the body over time, including migraines, joint pain, and debilitating fatigue. A recurring theme was the profound relief of finally receiving a diagnosis after years of uncertainty, with many expressing that knowing it wasn't all in their head validated their suffering, even though the lack of a cure remained frightening.

Gradually, I kept trying to self diagnose myself. Brushing it off as being toxic and needing to detox. Or just my Vitamin D Deficiency and increasing my Vitamin D intake. It wasn't until recently when I was having such a hard time walking and lifting my arms that I finally realized something is going on. The fatigue was debilitating. I couldn't concentrate at work. The pain all over got ridiculous. Then all of my labs came back normal. That's when I knew I had to face reality and go see my doctor.

Mine was gradual to start off with, fibro was picked up because I was being tested for lupus, but just in the last 6 months my symptoms have really escalated
