Members shared mixed experiences when asked about switching from pain management doctors to fibromyalgia specialists, with several finding rheumatologists helpful for diagnosis but noting that treatment often involves ongoing trial and error with medications like Lyrica. Many community members described significant relief through dietary changes, particularly eliminating gluten and lactose, and several highly recommended functional medicine doctors who address root causes like digestive health, hormone imbalances, and vitamin deficiencies rather than just managing symptoms. A recurring theme was the challenge of finding specialized care, especially for those in rural areas or on state insurance, with members encouraging each other to seek out functional medicine practitioners or doctors trained in comprehensive approaches like the SHINE method.

I have not seen a pain specialist But I have a Fibromyalgia Dr I travel 4 hours each way to see. Dr Loyalty trained under Dr Teitelbaum and the SHINE method. It made a world of difference for me. They also suggest a gluten free, low sugar diet, and combine herbals with western medicine. There is a lot of blood work that the treatment goes by because hormones, vitamin levels , heavy metals all can contribute to Fibromyalgia, CBS, agent orange ,adrenal fatigue and other chronic diseases.

Good morning! I have seen my rheumatologist for years for fibro and she has helped me. But the best thing that I have done is cut out lactose and gluten from my diet and just met with a new doctor last week. He is an MD but also practices functional medicine. I will be starting a process to heal my digestive track which is were 70% of this stuff starts. He feels that once that happens that my symptoms will likely go away. I can say that I haven't felt so hopeful in years that things will get better. The doctors name is Dr Nathan Morris in Oxford Ohio. Maybe you could call his office and ask for a referral closer to you. It's worth a try. Hope you begin to feel better soon and you find a healthcare provider who will listen and understand what you're going they. Have a blessed day
