What Other Meds Are Out There For Fibromyalgia That Aren't Opiates?!
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I drive bus and can no longer take tramadol! I'm looking to find something else I can take for pain and drive! I don't have any side affects and not had a problem but when I went for my CDL license they wouldn't pass me because now tramadol is considered an opiate!! Please help me out cause I'm tired of hurting!! Thanks for your help in advance!!!

Lisa198 yes I do take 10 mg of oxycodone 1x per day. My Tramadols are 200mg extended release which I take 1x a day also.

Sorry I didn't finish. I take Oxycodone twice a day. However, I'm still in major pain. I ,also, take Gabipenton, Cymbalta and Wellbutrin for depression.
I hope this was helpful.

I can't take Tramadol, it causes me severe headaches. But the Toradal shots do help tremendously, with no side effects.
What works for one may not for the others, I think that's what has the doctors so baffled with treatment ideas for us.

Tramadol is one of the better pain killers with the least side effects. But I understand why driving a bus would be an issue. You should ask your doctor what they would recommend to take it's place and make sure it is acceptable to your job.

I get a pain shot called Toradol every 4 weeks. It helps me with my pain overall. I am able to function on Tylenol 8-hour quite well now. I have not had any issues with driving or been told not to do it. It is in the anti-inflammatory family of meds. I could never take it orally because of my mild Crohn's disease. My Doctor put me on it. I have Fioricet and Norco 5 if I really need them..but cannot drive with them.
