Members shared their diverse experiences with the timing of IBS and fibromyalgia diagnoses, with many noting that IBS symptoms appeared years before their fibromyalgia diagnosis, often in childhood or their teenage years, though some didn't recognize the connection until later. Several members described how IBS has worsened alongside fibromyalgia, with common triggers including stress, certain foods like gluten and dairy, and medications like gabapentin and pain relievers that cause constipation. A recurring theme was the challenge of managing overlapping symptoms, with members finding relief through dietary changes, stool softeners, medications like mebeverine and buscopan, and the hard-won wisdom of taking one day at a time while staying proactive about identifying personal triggers.

I've been trying different things for 2 years. I've got it down to a generic stool softener, and I call it a cocktail but its just miralax in a cup with a flavored juice and only about 1/4 filled so I can do it in a shot. So like today I need pain meds It shouldn't back me up. But i'll do the same tomorrow

Mine was before the fibromyalgia, I'm going to have an appointment at the hospital for a 3D colonoscopy virtual scan in a couple of weeks and I've got to say I'm not exactly relishing the idea of it.

Good on you . My speech is ok now as I was stuttering so much but my meds have sorted that . But I still mix my words up all the time . Sometimes it's better without meds xxx
