Members opened up about the painful reality of losing friends and even family members due to fibromyalgia, with many describing how others dismiss their struggles, stop extending invitations, or simply drift away without understanding the daily challenges of living with chronic illness. Several members shared the emotional toll of being told to just deal with it or move on, losing entire social circles from jobs and activities, and the confusion and hurt of watching long-term friendships end over misunderstandings about health-related retirement or limitations. A recurring theme was finding strength in letting go of unsupportive relationships, protecting one's energy from those who don't care to understand, and leaning on communities like this one where members truly get it and offer the compassion that others could not.

Loads. Everyone on my soccer team, my job (which I stopped about 8 months ago due to fibro). There is so many things I can't do so some stopped inviting me. It saddens me a lot but you gotta keep the positive and helpful friends close and the negative ones you gotta flush them. So I guess it was bound to happen anyway and it might as well be a good thing to only have the ones who really care close otherwise it's very exhausting having to explain yourself all the time...

Oh darn. I just typed a couple of paragraphs that disappeared. Now, I will only type a short answer. YES I have lost people that I thought were my friends but who were obviously NOT. I am bitter and I have some hatred or maybe quite a bit of hatred in my heart now.
