I was put on antidepressants for the pain and have consistently been having trouble with them due to sode effects. What lifestyle changes have people made to help with the pain, specifically diet and exercise? I really want to be off of these meds but I am terrified I am going to go back to not being able to function.

I am being treated by an Integrative medical doctor .After 3 months I came off all the cronic meds. I started yoga and pilates. I have also eliminated refined sugar, gluten and diary from my diet. Apart from a frozen shoulder, I feel healthy and full of life. No brain fog. No more memory loss and impaired cognitive ability.

I also take my dogs for long walks every day.

I also do Ozone therapy to get the purest form of oxygen in my body.

I highly recommend a warm water pool. Mine is in a health fitness center. You start out slowly just hanging on like in a corner and cross your ankles to make your spine straighten out . Then gradually I use a foam tube and sit on it and move my arms and feet all around the pool. I go 5-6 days a week and bring propel or water bottle to rehydrate its very important to put water back in your body.

I deal with my pain by getting regular body work. I see an acupuncturist, chiropractor and massage therapist monthly My firbo body could not release the tension and knots on its own. The acupuncture needles can get directly to the tight muscles/knots and get them to release. My acupuncturist also uses cupping to increase my body's ability to move the waste through the myofacia, thus helping me to manage water retention in the hot weather. The massages never feel good because it is deep tissue to get to the knots that I rarely am aware of but produce a lot of muscle pain and often force the body to compensate with improper body alignment, and thereby producing more knots and pain in the never ending cycle. The chiropractor puts my body in the proper alignment. Mine has worked with with my physician, and has even helped advocate for me to get MRI for chronic muscle spasms.

I believe that doing this body work is what allowed me to continue working as long as I did. At first, I considered these treatments to be luxuries that I could not afford and I was not consistent with them. It took me about 2 years to realize that it need to be consistent in order to be helpful and this switched my thinking that they are essential to my health. That made it easier for me to spend the money on myself to address my fibro.

I was advised to keep an eye on the foods I eat and how I feel after I have eaten them. For me nightshade vegs like potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and bell peppers maybe a source of a trigger for a flare-up. The chemical in question is solanine. You can look this up. To some of us it maybe the cause due to our unique biochemistry.

It's very hard for us. These medications have terrible side effects. So u have to decide whats worse. Either the side effects or the fibro symptom. I get terrible side effects I'm on a lot of medications. But I'd rather not have fibro symptoms.Maybe ask ur doctor to try a different medicine. There's a lot out there. I go to physical therapy which helps everything moving. N I'm going to see a chiropractor.
I hope u feel better
