A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone only take Gabapentin for fibro? My sister is a nurse and she asked why I'm not on Cymbalta, lyrica,or Savella. She said those are the 3 approved meds for fibro. I'm just curious if I'm being treated correctly. I'm on other meds like anti inflammatory and muscle relaxor but I'm wondering about specific for fibro.

Same here. Been on Gabapentin for 20 months, but the doctor had to increase it every 6 months be because my pain increased again. Been on Lyrica sin e 8/9/16. It decreased my pain y 50%, which is s miracle, but I feel like I am drunk for about 3-4 hours after taking it. No weight gain so far (Thank God). I am also on 60 mg Cymbalta and 100 mg Celebrex. I take Tremadol, hen I have severe arthritis pain as well.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I take Lyrica, Cymbalta and Tramadol. They help but as they say, there is "No Cure". We have to find what works best for us. Yes they have bad side effects but I can't survive without them.

Thanks @A MyFibroTeam Member, I wasn't sure! I'm already on Amytriptaline which helps me with my migraines and my depression xx

I take Gabapentin, but I am also on cymbalta for right now. I have to take these first, my insurance won't let me try another fibro drug until I have given the cheapest ones a shot. And Gabapentin actually works in sort of the same way that Lyrica does (pregabalin is the generic name, but the generic is not available in the US yet). Gabapentin is often the 1st drug a doctor will try from my experience. I was told you can't take Gabapentin and Lyrica together.

Doctor took me off gabapentin and put me on lyrica. It works much better but you are right about the weight gain!
