My ankles just recently started swelling and becoming stiff when I walk. I also have hypothyroidism and my numbers are not within the normal range at the moment although my doctor and I are working to get them there. My question is: are the swollen ankles coming from the fibromyalgia or the hypothyroidism or possibly a combination of both? If anyone has also dealt with swollen ankles and has any advice for me I would certainly appreciate it. I hope everyone has a low pain, great day!

That's always a problem, isn't it? We (and the Drs) tend to blame fibro for everything, while most of us have multiple conditions we are dealing with... I try to trust my instincts, and not allow anyone to "write it off" as just another symptom of fibro - unless they have done all the necessary tests and ruled out other problems...

yes, my Fibro and my Arthritis both make my ankles swell and my feet too. I make sure to elevate as much as possible, also wear good form fitting shoes or sneakers

I have started getting swelling in my ankles lately too, but I don't know why. My thyroid levels are normal, but I do take Premarin, and I read somewhere that estrogen can cause ankle swelling. I'm starting to think it's the Fibro though...

I find when the fatigue gets the better of me and I fall asleep in a chair with my feet down my ankles will swell. I would suggest keeping your feet up as much as you can. I would definitely ask your doctor and/or pharmacist about it as a side effect from medication too maybe. (((gentleHUGS)))
