Members shared varied experiences with fibromyalgia being recognized as a disability, with some successfully receiving disability insurance payouts in countries like South Africa and the U.S., while others faced significant challenges navigating approval processes that required multiple appeals, attorney involvement, and years of fighting for benefits. Several members described the emotional toll of applying, including feelings of embarrassment, frustration with repeated documentation requests, and the exhausting cycle of proving their inability to work despite having paid into systems for decades. A recurring theme was the tension between desperately needing support and the guilt or stigma of asking for it, met with community encouragement to keep advocating and prayers for favorable outcomes.

It is but they make you feel bad for asking and make you jump through hoops to get it. It took me two years before I got it

GeoriaAnne, yes I do. And still jumping through hoops. Have multiple issues but because this has been going on for 3+ years and seeing their Docs with same findings as my own and several hearings. Last in January had all my Docs info current but because theres was from 2018 judge put hearing off again for yet another current update. Which I'm frustrated but yet I'm ok with it because not only have things got worse there's more. Thank you for you information and support. Hoping and praying next hearing is favorable for me and complete.πŸ™πŸ€ž Will take 1 stress load off of me.

I'm currently fighting social security for disability. I'm going on 3 and 1/2 years fighting them. Yes they do make you jump through hoops. Asking for the same thing each time and updated cause it's not current.
As I have and will continue to give and do all they want and need me to. I'm hoping this will be over soon and in my favor to end this fight and move on to another hurtle. I've worked since I was 11yrs old. I'm not asking for a handout or for anything I haven't earned. I can't work I have many other health issues besides Fibromyalgia. And God I would much rather work or be able to do something.
