I went to my 👷dr appt recently. When she asked - where is the pain? I said. -Like being hit by a car. But where. -It truly is all over. What fatigues you? I said getting dressed etc. I am sure others are asked the same questions. My dr questions were proper. I just did not know what to say. 🤕 Any ideas. I see someone asked similar question a few months back. 🌸

Hi Annie I used to be an RN, until the MS, heart disease, and Fibromyalgia got to be too bad.
When your hurting all over, as I am, and I'm sure many others as well experience this. Your pain is generalized. Of course your doctor will ask you to rate your pain on the pain scale. (0-10). One time a doctor asked me when I said 10+, "What are you basing that on." "What's the worst pain you've ever felt." I told him "From labor and delivery." "It's a different kind of pain, but it hurts just as bad."
He "yes that will do it.
Another thing your doctor will ask to describe your pain. That way may help them know whether it's organ, muscle, nerve pain etc. Is your pain burning, sharp, throbbing, does it feel like pressure pain etc. Also if your having other symptoms with the pain (i.e. Sweating, nausea, vomiting, etc). As this will be beneficial to help with a diagnosis.
I hope this has been helpful. If you have any more questions I'm here. Hugs and here's to less pain days.
@A MyFibroTeam Member it sucks because it partly has to do with those who have abused pain meds. So where as they gave it freely to the wrong people they have to weed out those. So be truthful and let them figure out the rest.but some people fake pain and so when we come along its hard to determine whose faking what. Which sucks because we suffer in silence while it seems we are being judge for even being in pain
It feels like I have fallen down a flight of stairs and landed on a mat made of nails?
Pain , how do you describe it when every inch if your body hurts . When my doctor asks me to describe the location and type of pain I experience I respond with .... How much time do we have today !?!! I typed up a detailed synopsis of where I felt pain and what it felt like . I started at the top of my head and ended with the bottom of my feet . I used words such as ; burning , crushing , throbbing , aching , burning , constant , intermittent I also stated what made the pain worse or better . And because the weather plays a role in how I feel , I added that into my letter . It made me more aware of each area , the type if pain I felt , what made it better , what made it worse so on and so forth . My doctor was so thankful for the letter and really began to understand the severity of my pain , something you can't even begin to scratch the surface if in the 15-20 minutes you're in the exam room .
I wrote things like ;
Scalp best 3/10,worst 7/10. Aching burning sensation , constant at worst . Feels like my hair has been pulled out in clumps - hurts to run brush through hair . Increased stress and fatigue noted to accompany painful scalp .
Now when I see my doctor , she can pretty much tell how I am feeling when I report increased stress and fatigue , or by the weather ,or in the presence if an illness. Its helped so much and I don't have to try and addresss all my pain , illness or other contributing factors in 15-20 minutes .
I completely understand this isn't for everyone , even if you don't give it to your doctor , its a great way to really think about each part of your body , how it feels at it's best at it's worst , how it feels using descriptive words , what makes it feel better or worse , etc ...
I was at my Dr. the other day to have my prescription for Tylenol 3 renewed. He asked me how my fibro is. I told him excruciating pain all over .... every day. He made me feel like I had to justify having my prescription renewed.
