Members deeply related to the question about struggling to parent young children while managing chronic pain, with many sharing the heavy guilt they carry over activities they cannot do and energy they no longer have. Several members described how their children have adapted in different ways, from becoming homebodies to learning empathy at a young age by helping with pillows or understanding limitations, though moments of disappointment or misunderstanding still bring tears and emotional exhaustion. A recurring theme was the importance of self-compassion, recognizing that being present and available matters more than being physically capable of everything, and trusting that children will grow to understand more fully over time.

It was very difficult when my children were young. Alot of that came from stress and me "beating" myself up over what I couldn't do. I now care for my 2 yr old grandson who is very understanding of my pain. He hasn't known me any other way. When I tell him my legs hurt he gets me pillows to lay down and prop them up. Hang in there and give yourself some slack!

I have a 2 1/2 year old and an 11 year old. I feel bad on a daily basis because I don't have the energy to go do "fun" things. The thoughts of being a crappy mom are on my mind all the time. So you are not alone.

Yes my grands and my step-daughter. They are great kids but I'm so tired and emotionally and physically exhausted.

I try so hard to do things with him but lately I have felt defeated and it is so hard to be positive when my son does that to me... All I can do is apologize to him constantly
