I was laying on the couch feeling relatively normal when it felt like a wave came over me and all my muscles tightened up. Even my chest and jaw. I started shaking and have minor jerks. I took my anxiety meds which stopped the shaking but the tightness is still everywhere. Normal experience? Advice? Anyone else have this happen?

Members responded to someone experiencing a frightening episode of sudden, full-body muscle tightness, shaking, and chest pain, with several identifying it as a familiar and exhausting symptom of fibromyalgia, while others suggested it could be a seizure and strongly recommended calling a nurse line or doctor for evaluation. Several members shared that similar episodes leave them drained for days, are triggered by factors like barometric pressure changes, and that medications like Gabapentin, Flexeril, and low-dose Naltrexone have helped manage the symptoms. A recurring theme was the importance of getting medical clarity to rule out serious causes while also validating how scary and debilitating these episodes can be, with many offering gentle support and practical tips like using topical rubs for relief.

I would call a nurse line to be sure but that did sound like a seizure. Shea butter is good to use on your body daily to assist with muscle soreness. It works for me.

I hadn't realised that whole body shaking can be a part of Fibromyalgia, I have been experiencing full body shakes and my doctor started Setreline for my anxiety this has helped but I still can feel less intense shaking in my legs and back mainly x

I have actually experienced this quite a few times and it can leave me very exhausted and even more drained than normal with the effects lasting for up to a couple of days. I did mention to my doctor and have had testing and unfortunately it's just another piece of my Fibro. But since everyone is different I would suggest it wouldn't hurt to have it checked.
Can be quite scary 😢😢
Hugs for you xx

@A MyFibroTeam Member, That's exactly my major problem with Fibromyalgia. What u explained happens to me all the time. My last post was bc I took pain meds for the pain to stop bc muscle relaxers don't help me when its that bad smh. It saddens me that it's what ur feeling to bc I totally know what u just went thru and Im sorry. Ive been to doctor after doctor and they chalked it up as Fibromyalgia. Take gd care of urself. I use rubs for my thighs, calves, feet and arms. Never rub on after a soak bath bc ur skin will be too tender at that time. Let me know if u need me for anything, Im here for u. X gentle x hugs
