Members with fibromyalgia connected over the shared struggle of insomnia, with most attributing their sleeplessness to chronic pain, racing thoughts, and overactive muscles that refuse to settle down even hours after activity. Many shared their late-night routines, including scrolling social media, reading, watching classic movies, doing puzzles, crocheting, journaling, listening to calming music or sermons, and using heating pads to manage discomfort. A recurring theme was practical advice for better sleep, including medications like melatonin, muscle relaxers, nortriptyline, or doxepin, along with bedtime hygiene tips such as avoiding screens before bed, getting up to do something calming if sleep doesn't come within 30 minutes, and accepting unconventional sleep schedules that work for individual bodies rather than fighting against them.

I normally catch up on all my emails, notifications and other social media. It's also the time when you get complete and utter peace as the rest of the house are asleep. Also get peace to watch a bit of TV and no-one steals the remote xxx

I just recently analyzed my sleep pattern. I wake up around 8am. Stay awake till 1-2 pm. Fall asleep. Sleep from 2-5pm. Awake from 5pm to 1-2am. Sleep from 2-8 am. Over a 24 hour period I get a total of 9 hours sleep. That is what works the best for me. Breaking up my sleep like that. I use to try and sleep all night and stay awake during the day but it was a constant struggle with tossing and turning to fall asleep. Mind you when I am awake I don't do much because of the constant migraines.

I also wake up in the middle of night. My mind just won't shut down. What I do is take my iPad and listen to Charles Stanely or any preacher. By listening, my mind relaxes and I drift off to sleep.

I'm a night owl ! I listen to music with birds or the rain forest with no words. I listen to it on You tube. Reading I think can make you tired. Warm beverage. It is frustrating. My best sleep is in the morning when the whole house is awake. Yea can't sleep sometimes at night and can't stay awake during the day.

I forgot to say that if I cannot get back to sleep within 30 minutes, I get up and read or anything that is relaxing. Unfortunately there are nice whenever I'm up to three or four hours. The sleep doctor I used to work for always said it's good sleep hygiene to if you can not sleep for 30 minutes to get up and read or do something call me. It's better than laying in bed and just tossing and turning. The worst thing you can do is watch TV in bed they said. I hope this helps.
