I have times when I'm tired that I can't process words. I can think of them, but it doesn't come out of my mouth. Also my tongue feels heavy during these episodes. Has anyone else experience this?
Hi @A MyFibroTeam Member
I have bad fibro fog and word loss, often in public. I can't even think of the words, let alone not be able to speak them, as many have described above. I'm not apologizing, but If I know that someone really notices it, and I deal with them a lot, I might let them know that I have an illness that causes the problem. It's a personal decision to do so though. It doesn't bother me that much anymore, if at all
Have this problem a lot. Especially when I'm tired or stressed. I end up speaking in definitions such as that place where you keep the dishes in the room where you cook. At least I know what the words mean just don't know what they are. embarassing!
I have this when in sever pain. It's as if your brain can't process everything because it's coping with the pain. Take yourself out of any stressful situations, sit quietly in a dark room and try and focus. It sounds silly but it helps the brain to calm down. It's what I do and it works for me.
I too speak in description of words. Also when I can't remember my friends name, I say the word name and then it comes to me. I often have spoonerisms too. But too often I stare in silence with the word in my head and almost like a bad dream, it can't come out. Exhaustion and emotional overload or the zone can cause this for me. I don't mind if people say the word for me. I used to but not anymore. Sometimes I just go ahead and embrace the silence. Does anyone else do that?
Ya. I stutter some even and of course the ever present problem of not being able to think of the right word at the right time..๐
