Members responded to someone experiencing frequent urination that was affecting their quality of life and intimacy, with the strong consensus being to see a urologist rather than just a general practitioner for specialized evaluation and treatment options. Several members shared their own experiences with similar symptoms, describing solutions that included bladder distention procedures to remove scar tissue, catheter-delivered medications to prevent tissue formation, prescription medications for overactive bladder, and daily cranberry supplements that helped reduce the persistent urge to urinate. A recurring theme was that this frequent need to urinate is not something to simply accept or manage with pads alone, but rather a legitimate medical concern worthy of specialist care, with many members emphasizing that what often feels like a urinary tract infection may actually be interstitial cystitis or irritable bladder associated with fibromyalgia.

This is something a lot of ladies get when they are elderly & the adverts on TV showing useful (expensive ) pads for much younger women seems to me to be making us feel that it's normal to need to wee frequently & if we have a little accident before we've even pulled our tights down, well never mind because you're protected by our pads!! But it's not normal & if it affects your quality of life then your GP should willingly refer you to a specialist. But what some of us experience is that unnatural persistent feeling of needing another wee. I have found through years of trips to my GP with the symptoms of a urine infection, being prescribed antibiotics that I begged for because the pain if it got to my kidneys was too much to bare, I simply have an irritable bladder!! I was advised for years to drink plenty of cranberry juice as well as water, so I decided to take a Cranberry supplement every day instead. It's been a eureka moment in my life & the infections have gone & those days of endlessly pointless & painful trips to the loo for a tinkle are very rare indeed! Gentle hugs to you all xx

I forgot to say I also agree with Marie in that I feel like I always have an infection, get tested and its negative. I believe its just a Fibro thing.

I agree with Marie. Have seen both a GI specialist and a urologist this month. Actually have to have minor day surgery in a couple of weeks to have my bladder stretched in hoping to improve the I.C. - Both IBS and I.C. are part and parcel of Fibro sometimes. I sympathize with you- this constant running to find a toilet every where you go sucks! Hugs.

I have the same problems. I went to see my regular doctor and she sent me to a urologist. The best they could do is give me pills, and I have to wear a urinary pad at night. I do get a lot of infections and get antibiotics for them. In the day, I frequently need the washroom between the urine and IBS. Good luck to you and let me know how it goes.
