the reasearch is being done but it takes time for a illness like this as it isnt just dealing with brain chemistry, genetics, arthritis, physical day to day stress abuse, (mental and/or physical) or things like ptsd or physical and mental SHOCK*( IE car crash) It is all of them and more. so unlike something any one of those things I mentioned they have to figure out how to define all of them and none of them what holds them all together what is the runing links though them all. 10 years or even 20 isnt really that long for reaserch look at MS theyve been doing reaserch for over 50 years and it is only in the last decade that they have found causes and ways of slowing the effect once they manifest But they still cant stop the cause.

I hate to be a doubter but I must say I'm not at all sure they really want to find a cure.... In 1992 I asked my rheumatologist what causes it (fibro and cfs) he said we don't know. He said pharmaceutical companies make more money developing drugs to put a bandaid or treat the symptoms, so it's not really a priority to find a cure. That can be said about all diseases. I just don't trust the pharmaceutical companies and also think some/many doctors are in the back pocket of the pharmaceutical companies.

Actually it should be a team of doctors working on us since all parts of the body are affected by the fibro. They don't know what causes it but it is know that some people like me seem to have it all their lives and others seem to get it after illnesses or trama. It is common for a person with fibromyalgis to also have ostioarthritis, IBS, TMJ, dry mouth, dry eyes, bladder issues (scar tissue in bladder), bursitis, tendonitis, allergies, and the list goes on. When they finally get a definitive test that tells you that you have fibromyalgia we will be able to be diagnosed a lot easier and faster.

I guess the difference between fibromyalgia and arthritis is inflammation in the blood. I agree it seems to be a neurological problem, as mine seems to be due to lack of serotonin production in the brain .

Both docs need to be involved. Yes it's a nerve issue, but it's also an arthritis issue as well.
