Hot And Cold Flashes
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else get hot or cold flashes during the day and how do you deal with it. My main issue is hot flashes. Sometimes after a warm shower I will be hot for several hours afterwords. I have tried taking a colder shower but this doesn't always seem to work. Then for some reason I will get cold with goosebumps all of a sudden.

My doctor told me that my vitamin D levels are extremely low and that can also cause the hot flashes. So I am now on 5000 IU's of D3. So far I have more pain in my legs. Feels like bone pain.

I'm also getting some kind of a temperature changes. Sometimes I will get so hot and then I will be cold in a few minutes. Don't know what's causing it.

Fibro is a crazy syndrome, it can affect people differently. Our nerve system sends all kinds of quirky signals to our brains. We have a hyper vigilant nervous system. Hormones can also cause hot flashes, I don't know how old you are but men go through change of life too and it could be male peri-menopause. I keep a fan close by even in winter! I sleep with just a sheet on me and wear only cotton cloths year round.

At the end of my shower I turn down the hot water..I keep the water warm. I stand in that for a few minutes before getting out and that seems to help with the hot flashes for the most part. I also wear layers of clothing ..to hot take some off...to cold put them back on. At home I wear slippers year round and if I'm really chilly I wear a scarf around the house until I warm up.
