Personal Independence Payment P.I.P (UK)
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have had to give up working due to Fibromyalgia and Long Term Depression issues. I've applied for Personal Independence payment P.I.P (UK).

I have an appointment to go for a Medical Assessment on the 15th January 2016.

Has anyone else applied for this and been successful with their application?

Has anyone had a Medical Assessment before?

I applied recently got awarded high rate on both components . I had a home visit.
I do have other issues . But I was honest I told them I get good days . But then I get days when I can't do anything . My husband a kids help on those days . I'm lucky as my husband works shifts .so he's either home all day , all morning or all afternoon.
My kids are 10 and over and are great at helping and earning pocket money.
But I have crutches and been given a chair by an OT for days I really do struggle.
Everything has to be planned. If I want to do something I've got to make sure I rest for few days before and days after.
Pacing is key.
I seem to be one of the lucky ones I never had an issue I got awarded first time.
I retch lots aswell through the day and I'm sick . When they visited I was on a bad day and was sick three times whilst they were here.
She asked if that's what I was like I said yes . Everyday and on really bad days I'm
Like that and sore and extremely fatigued .
She obviously listened .

You can leave your home only when your not in any pain/suffering which on average is less than 2x per week and even then you need a person (partner) with you to act as a guide / carer for you

I am on PIP, I applied about 1year ago, I didn't have to go and have a medical. The examiners came to me (home visit). The process I found was very quick, doesn't take as long as everyone makes out. My examiner was very nice & friendly. They just go through your questionnaire and go more in depth with it. They ask you to do a few things like how high you can lift your arms & legs, how far you are able to walk and stuff like that. I had my PIP & ESA Medicaid in the space of a week of each other. ESA was harder I found, lot of people get refused. After I had my PIP medical I started getting my payments about 5 weeks later and it all gets backdated to when you applied.

Just tell them as much truthful information as you can.

Please let me know how you get on xxx
