I have gone through this exact same thing. I spent most of my 20's sleeping. I also had insomnia and Narcolepsy. You might want to ask your Doctor about getting a sleep study done just in case. We need our REM sleep and if you are not getting it, it can make everything else worse.
Yes, I do the same thing a lot. I have just had about with this the past week. Sometimes I will sleep all day, then be awake at night. Sometimes I will only be awake for an hour or two for the entire day. I wish I knew the answer, but you are not the only one.
I had heard that Topamax was good, however, I tried a low dose and I had a bad reaction. So it is important to try to find a balance of medications that you can tolerate to help with the pain and supplements to help our immune systems. I too take Olive Leaf every night. Other supplements vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that are synergized also help. I take a vitamin powder by Youngevity you can also google. Without the menu of these things I would be in bed all the time. Just remember that what works for one of us may not work for others. An infrared sauna is also supposed to be good. Depression is also a byproduct of FM and can be another reason for sleeping all the time so a low dose of an anti-depressant can also be helpful. Cymbalta is supposed to be good for both pain and depression - I ended up having a bad reaction to this med but many people have had success on this. Finding a time of day where you feel well enough to get out of the house even if it is to just run to the store then back home to rest - feet up avoiding the bed except for nighttime sleep if possible - no TV in bedroom and good sleep hygiene. I have been drinking hot milk or hot chocolate which is helpful for sleep. The doctor also prescribed Ambien to keep my circadian rhythms balanced half of a 10 mg. Again, medications and supplements can work together so check with your doctor. Talk therapy is good and so is meditation, Tai' Chi or walking help with energy - just trying to get the blood flowing without excessive exercise. Balance - emotional, mental, physical and spiritual practices. It is a time job for sure. Loves
Believe it or not I started drinking hot chocolate and taking soaking warm baths and that has helped some. You can talk to your doctor about medications. The pain is FM so yes it can keep you from sleeping. I take a low dose of Ambien and it helps some. It is best not to take it every night because you don't want to develop a tolerance to it and if taken for a long time can actually cause insomnia. I also use a sound machine, ear plug in one ear to drown out my husbands snoring - the other ear on the pillow. I use a pillow between my legs, rub myself down with Arnica message oil everywhere - neck, rib cage, arms and legs. I try to go to bed the same time every night and get up same time every morning. It is a battle just to sleep. Most nights I toss and turn and sleep sound about two hours. = like @A MyFibroTeam Member said even with the medication. I also pray until I fall asleep.
YES!!!! I can sleep 12 hours per night, and still be tired. Not feel awake at all. If it weren't for the Adderal that I take, I would be a total zombie as you just described. Sometimes I choose not to take it, and those are the days (like today) that I get yelled at by my mother......
