My 16 yr old daughter had an ovarian cyst which burst 10/7/15. Her abdominal pain spread to her back then her knees, feet and then hands and arms. She cannot walk by herself and is a wheelchair. I haven't read that it is common to come on so strong, so fast. Just looking to see if others have experienced this.

I, like LisaK had a virus in December 2012 and by 4/2013 I was in extreme pain, the symptoms kept progressing, I can't function without Savella, but still have flares. My GP would not treat me because she felt that I had such severe symptoms that I would do better with a Rheumotologist.

Yes. I got FMS virtually overnight, following a bad virus. To go from a healthy, over-achieving adult to an invalid in a wheelchair, with migraines, vision problems, sensory problems, pain, and the inability to walk was extremely traumatic. That was 3 years ago and I still have FMS. An apparently common trait of FMS is getting it after a virus or infection. Stanford Medical Center, led by Dr. Montoya, has made it a mission to find out how chronic pain and fatigue occur; along with Dr. Lerner, now deceased, he has treated people with certsin vaccines, as a post-viral syndrome, which would explain the sudden onset. But he's on the cutting edge. Doctors do not know what causes FMS.

I had multiple surgeries because of cysts and eventually had a complete hysterectomy before they stopped. The pain floored me, even sent me to the ER a few times. I never connected my cysts with my fibro before though. I hope she gets through okay

I had ovarian cysts, I had them so bad that they took out my ovaries, I would get cysts all the time they would burst and the pain was so bad it would floor me, I'm sorry your daughter is going through this at such a young age, She might have an infection, you should take her to the doctors, I hope it's nothing more, don't get me wrong I know how painful cysts can be. God Bless and I hope she feels better soon.
