I applied for social security disability 3 years ago & my patience is running thin. I do have an attorney but it feels like SS just takes their sweet time. Anyone else have the same issues or feel frustrated with the process?
The average time is 24 months, but like all things connected to the gov't, it depends on where you live and how bad off you are. You may be a victim of the unemployment rate in your state. When the economy dips & people start losing their jobs, the rate of disability claims goes up tremendously. Hang in there and apply for Medicaid. Don't assume you won't get it. It's there for people like us. Good luck.
I hope this may encourage-
Just today I learned that I will be awarded SSDI! Be patient I like you started the whole process about 3 years ago. I was denied three times, we put in an appeal, and I went in person to my hearing. After the hearing it took nearly 7 months to get to today and their result.
I must say I have mixed feelings this will help me to survive. But am I supposed to feel totally happy that I am officially "disabled"? I guess I can hold onto hope that maybe someday they will find a cure.
I was so shocked I got approved in one month but it doesn't start until your bday month. I was told by everyone I would have to apply and reply and could take a long time. VERY SCHOKED it was so quick!!!
I had a lawyer and went to court and was denied all 3 times. I had all my doctors backing me telling them I couldnt hold a job. I did everything I had to. Tons of paperwork. Physicals. Everything. Between the Fibro and Migraines that last for 3 days at a time I cant work. I had a lady judge that was very rude and mean. She accused me of lying and other things.I should of file charges. I worked my whole life and couldnt get disability. But yet I know so many that have never worked that get everything. Not fair. I wish you the best of luck. You may have to try for medicaid.
My case took 3 years and it was when I finally got a court hearing that I received it. They deny people over and over to try to get you to quit so hold in there and try to push for the court hearing. Stay strong and good luck
