I am wondering if "Good", "So/So" and "Bad" mean different things to each of us when we select them for our updates.
It is extremely rare for my pain level to go below a pain level of 7.
For me personally, "Good" is a pain level of 7, "So/So" is a pain level of 8, and "Bad" is a is a pain level of 9 +.
I was thinking that perhaps using the pain level scale would benefit us, as I would love to understand what some are doing to have lower pain levels.
Good to me is no pain. So/so is muscle aches and spasms. Bad is when I am having my flares :-)
To me, those adjectives are very vague and I use them to describe my day overall, not my pain level. A bad day to me, would be not being able to move (has happened to me before) a traumatic visit to the ER a death etc...I'd much rather see words such as exhausting, difficult, stressful, tolerable, eventful, relaxed, (so/so and good are ok as well) but my pain never goes away and it at a high level so I don't think of my pain as being good, bad or so/so but rather how I'm feeling about each day overall, taking it one day at a time.
Good to me is when I thought I was going to suffer and didn't as bad as I thought, so so is when I am suffering but still functioning, bad would be the suffering is worse than I could handle
As a nurse pain is so subjective what one person can tolerate and do well with anothet person is cryng and moaning in pain, alot of factors are involved, past pain, mefication history, and tolerance, family support. And on an on, but wha it boils down to is how do U FEEL, thetrevare also so many types of pain related to fibro, muscle, aching, throbbing burning tingling stabbing ect. So u rate ur pain on howvu feel, if ur able to move and do things than its a good day, cant move bad day,
Bad is I'm layed up in bed pain meds are not working. So/so is meds taking the edge off and can do bit of chores if I'm careful and have no migraine just headache instead. Good means I can go shopping do some yard work/gardening and enjoy myself even if not pain free.
