Members responded to a question about managing fibromyalgia holistically versus with prescription medications, with many expressing a preference for minimal medication use due to serious side effects, including one member who stopped all prescriptions after nearly fatal reactions. Several members shared alternative approaches they rely on, including medical marijuana for migraines and chronic pain, over-the-counter guaifenesin, and supplements like SAMe, St. John's wort, melatonin, and milk thistle. A recurring theme was the tension between wanting natural relief and facing severe pain that sometimes requires stronger intervention, with many members waiting for medical marijuana legalization in their states as a hopeful middle ground.

I would gladly practice holistically if practicing holistically for very serious pain was legal in the state that I live in. :)

I lived in Michigan and was prescribed Medical Marijuana. I had written numerous papers on it in grad school about how it was a wonder drug with Chronic Pain. We actually have THC receptors in our brains. I would have never tired MM because of the stigma until I was suffering from a 3 month long Compound Migraine. My son knew I couldn't/wouldn't smoke it so he took the smoke in and just blew it in my face. I got enough that in 20 minutes the Migraine was gone and I felt great. I was extremely tired from the migraine and slept like a baby. I totally believe in Vaping the MM and when it becomes legal in Florida I will be very happy. It does work and I am one scenic who was taught a very valuable lesson.

I have a teen at home and heart disease in my family ( I do not have it to this point, thank you Father) with that being said, because of the side affects, I do not take a prescription, such as Lyrica or Cymbalta because of the risks. I have found that recently the over the counter guafinasin has helped somewhat, I also take a holistic leg pain relief and Advil. Like most, some days are better than others, nights not so much.
