For the last couple of weeks, I have been getting the worst heartburn of my life. Very painful and have been taking Zantac which seems to help but then wears off within an hour. I only take two in a 24 hours period, but wish I could take it more. This heartburn is really bad. Also, does anyone suffer with bad sweating? I have been having the sweats for a long long time but they seems to be getting a lot worse in the last few months. I thought that it my be my lack of hormones as I had a… read more

The med that you take cause s irritation to the lining of your stomach, which increases the problem with acid reflux. I would discuss other options with your doctor.
I think the heart burn may be caused by the medications, I'm on a prescription antacid it doesn't help much sometime gaviscon may help . I also have an hiatus hernia which can cause acid reflux, so you may want to rule that out , I seem to get hot flashes every time I increase my Amitriptline so I try to stay on a lower dose in the summer when the weather is warmer and my pain is less
Jennifer, I also have heartburn and take Zantac twice a day, as far as the sweating I am either freezing under a blanket or sweating. I thought the sweats were because I'm menopausal, only to find out it's another lovely thing that can be caused by the fibro. So far I haven't been able to get a handle on it, I wish you the best of luck.
I have had the sweats for years now. It has become so chronic that it wakes me up every night, only to get the chills when the heat leaves my body. I also get sweats during the day. It seems to run in cycles. My dr. took a 24 hour urine hormone test a few years back and my levels of epinephrine and norpherefrines (not sure of the exact spelling) are 2x the norm. That hormone is produced by the adrenal glands. High levels of epinephrine
can cause excessive hot flashes/sweatiing. Unfortunately, there is nothing they can give you for it and they still haven't found a reason why I have such high levels. I am monitored every six months and the tests always come out the same:( This is probably why I wake up so many times during the night and never get a good night's sleep. Ask you dr. to run a 24-hour urine hormone test, it might give you a reason for your excessive sweating. I hope this helps:)
I take a perscription called pariett for acid reflux.
Also I too suffer from hot flashes and have a difficult time in the heat I usually feel sick when too hot.
