Has Anyone Ever Tried The "paleo" Way Of Eating To Help Fibro Pain?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been doing some reading about the Paleo Diet and wondered if anyone has tried this way of eating to help fibro pain. I need to lose weight and I thought if I tried to eat Paleo food, it might help my symptoms and weight loss might just be a side effect! I'm anxious to hear from anyone that has tried this!

Just started Paleo one week ago. So far, pain is much improved as well as fatigue and brain fog. I think honestly it's working much better than the meds.

Have not had one flare since starting. Prior to this, I was having flares daily.

Sometimes I'm feeling so well, that I forget that I'm supposed to take my Gabapentin/Gralise. I still take it because I know healing takes time from the inside out, but I'm determined to heal myself.

I mean, if it works for MS, RA, and other debilitating diseases, it has got to work for fibro too!

Of note, on my blood work I always have iron-deficiency anemia, low B12, high folate, and low Vitamin D. Why should a young person have so many nutritional deficiencies? This just confirms my knowledge that it has something to do with my diet.

Also, the fact that fibro is growing exponentially in the United States seems far from a coincidence. I think a lot of it has to do with our food!

I will keep you updated in the next few months as to how I do if you are interested. Sorry for the rant! It's just I'm finally seeing progress after two years of suffering with horrible, disgusting, sickening pain and fatigue. There is hope!!

It is really hard to stick to, I'm not gonna lie, and social situations are hard because I don't eat what other people eat nor do I drink.

However, I would much rather be pain-free, energetic, and happy than eat or drink whatever may feel good in the moment.

I really hope this helped you!

Hi,

I have been doing the AIP (autoimmune paleo diet) for three months now. I have not noticed any improvements at all, if anything I have new symptoms including nausea, stomach issues and fevers. Supposedly it can take over a year to feel better, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to restrict myself so much. The only thing that I have done which is incorrect is that I took ibuprofen this week because I could no longer function when my headaches were so bad. I have read that it helps other people so I hope that it helps you if you give it a try.

Hi Vicki! I know gluten free is very difficult. I have a grandson that has to eat gluten free and it is very difficult to find foods. I guess it's just the matter of getting used to it and get into your own system with foods. Let me know if you have good results with your pain. Thanks!
