Members rallied around someone asking whether their multiple chronic conditions would improve their chances for disability approval, sharing the reality that the process is unpredictable and often depends on documentation and the judge assigned rather than illness alone. Several members offered practical advice, including gathering detailed letters from doctors, friends, and employers describing how daily life and work capacity have changed, consulting a disability attorney, and understanding that Social Security often denies first applications regardless of severity. A recurring theme was the emotional exhaustion that comes with managing multiple chronic illnesses while navigating a system that feels arbitrary, with members finding solidarity in shared struggles and the grief of losing their former selves.

Yes - Age can also help - If you are not close to retirement Soc Sec will deny first time - we were told that at the soc sec office - we also consulted with disability lawyer which helped

One thing that helped me with my getting disability was letters from friends which stated how much my life had changed and why they felt I could no longer worked. The judge mentioned those in his decision. The sum of illnesses means different things to different judges. Some have been granted disability on very ilttle symptoms and others have been denied with multiple illnesses. Get all the documentation that you can get. Letters from docs, friends, work, etc. Good luck

I had 3 specialists that told me I needed to walk away from my job and concentrate on my health. I've been a nurse for 25 years and I'm just so tired...tired of appts, tired of the pain, tired and grieving for the person I was before all this happened 17 years ago. I feel like I've "managed" employment as well as I could....just a big pill to swallow

I hope so...I am in Canada and I have fibro, chronic tendinitis both forearms and elbows, osteoarthritis in thumb joints, bursitis in both hips, pinched nerve on both sides of my neck due to car accident...I also have chronic clinical depression! isn't disability for people like us...
