@A MyFibroTeam Member I left my job 3 years ago. Until 6 months ago, I would not even consider applying. I guess I was too prideful. I started thinking about my husband who is 63. If something were to happen to him, God forbid, there would be zero income here. So I applied, jumped through all of their hoops, and was approved.
Praise the Lord!! I worked 35 years and paid into SS, so it is not welfare or charity! 💜

Yes..I received it 4 years after applying for it.fighting for it...For me what helped finally win was..I took a "Cognitive Test " by a Psychiatrist ( ordered by the Social Security ) because I kept telling Social Security my memory has been definitely affected..and communication is much harder..thoughts do not stay in order..from being so tired.and in pain..so I took the test and failed it.. it was a 3 hour test.I did not even know they had such a test...OMG..was so so tired....if I would of known this..that it is automatic win if your brain is not working properly ( Fibro Fog)..that you can not expect to be hired and keep a job without a lot of mistakes..and poor communication..due to Fibro Fog.. and Chronic fatigue...I would of taken the test in the beginning ..and won Social Security earlier..I would of paid the Psychiatrist on my own to have it done..Doctors know also if you have chronic pain..your thoughts are focused on the pain firstly..and your job at hand secondly..which makes mistakes happen more often..

Yes, after 3 years. You get retro pay from 6 months after you filed. Use a lawyer!!!! Mine wouldn't have gotten paid if I hadn't won. If you win, they get a certain percentage up to a set amount by the govt. Well worth the cost to have them go through all the hoops and nonsense the powers that be put you through. Good luck.

I quit my job a year ago, and I am still talking myself into applying. I paid into the Social Security system for over 30 years, so I know I should not feel embarrassed to apply for benefits, but I also seem to have too much pride. I was in the military, worked my "bootie" of, never needed financial help. It sure is needed now, I think I need to apply soon.
