Has anyone come across the link with Thyroid problems, I've seen alot of articles recently saying that thyroid function could be responsible for many of the symptoms (or as usual fibro may be the cause of the thyroid??) They say the thyroid readings may not be outside the norm but Natural thyroid or T4 (whatever that is?) may help. has anyone any experience with this?

Members explored the potential connection between thyroid problems and fibromyalgia, with many sharing that they have both conditions diagnosed, though most found that treating thyroid issues with medications like Synthroid, levothyroxine, or natural thyroid did not significantly improve their fibromyalgia symptoms. Several members described the diagnostic challenge of borderline or fluctuating thyroid readings, emphasizing that some doctors focus on how patients feel rather than strictly following test numbers, while others noted that adequate thyroid hormone levels in blood tests don't always mean the hormones are reaching cells where they're needed. A recurring theme was the frustration of managing overlapping conditions with similar symptoms, the trial-and-error nature of finding treatments that work, and the ongoing search for answers when conventional medicine doesn't provide clear solutions or relief.

the essence of fibro is the neuro-sensory changes which result in paresthesias, pain and changes in mentation, along with disurbances in sleep patterns which come from these problems, it has no basis in the fragility of blood vessles. It concerns itself with nuerons and the chemicals which relay pain signals over those pathways and substances such as endorphins, seroton, norepinephrine, which keep our mood balanced . All the symptoms of fibro on multisystem charts are boiled down to these systems..

Yes, I have repeatedly read about thyroid being connected to fibromyalgia for a long time. The main issue is that although the blood has adequate amounts of thyroid hormones, many times they do not get into our cells where needed. However, there are no tests to determine if the hormones are getting into the cells. Most doctors will not go beyond conventional medicine (although they probably know this) and give his patient thyroid medicine when their blood work shows normal. I have found one doctor who also got fibro while in medical school and I get his newsletters. He does tests beyond what conventional doctors do which gives him different results and he has an impressionable number of successful years prescribing hormones to fibro. patients. He has written quite a few books, has fibro. clinics in various parts of the country, sells vitamins geared toward fibro. patients, etc. etc. I am not connected to him in any way. I just believe in his work and ideas. I am one of those persons who have normal thyroid tests, although I have nodules on my thyroid which I have read is sometimes caused by hypothyroid. I wish medical science would hurry up and develop a adequate tests for us fibro. patients
